Message from the Dean on the Graduate School Covid-19 response
The situation in the past weeks has been nothing but extraordinary. Though experimental work has been on hold, teaching, rotations and research work continue online. Though our physical campus is quiet, our virtual campus flourishes – classes are being held, supervision continues, and free exchange of ideas has moved from the Error Bar to cyberspace. This would not be possible without the effort and involvement from each of you.
I’m writing to provide some information on support from the Graduate School. We have provided resources to help with online teaching: from tips on using Zoom, to a video on “flipped classrooms”. Our Corona crisis team has the latest updates, including new campus rules,
The IST Graduate School puts its teaching mission at the fore, and so we encourage you all – students, postdocs as well as faculty – to come up with new ideas. We are starting a new ‘Thinking together’ initiative for scientists who wish to discuss modern and classical papers, and welcome further topics. We will also continue to add new courses, and are now in the curriculum planning season – we welcome your ideas!
Take good care, stay safe and do not hesitate to contact me or the Graduate School Office directly.
